Why We Should Be Advocating for the Bees | Carly Stein

Why We Should Be Advocating for the Bees | Carly Stein

Post Header Image

Did you know that ⅓ of our food supply is dependent on bees? The truth is, we really don’t know much about bees, or all the amazing things they do for mankind. It’s time to be an advocate for the bees by understanding how they work, and why they do what they do.

WELCOME TO THE DARIN OLIEN SHOW

Carly Stein’s health was transformed by bees. Now she’s standing up for them. Quote - “Humans are so reliant on bees. If we lose the bees, it affects one-third of our food supply.”

As the founder and CEO of Beekeeper’s Naturals, Carly has a mission to improve the health of both humans and bees. In fact, she left her job at Goldman Sachs to do just that. Carly got into beekeeping after discovering the healing powers of propolis in her early 20’s. After being chronically sick most of her life, she was searching for a way to boost her immune system and improve her overall health. She was shocked to learn that propolis, a powerful antibacterial substance produced by bees, was virtually unheard of in the United States.

After becoming a beekeeper and learning more about bees as a species, she knew she wanted to advocate for these essential creatures. That’s why at Beekeeper’s Naturals, every business decision is always based on what’s best for the them. She is dedicated to using her company as a platform to make a difference and raise awareness for the global bee population.

Although I’ve long known about propolis, Royal jelly, and the healing properties of honey,

I purposely didn’t do any extensive research before this episode. I wanted to learn from Carly and her experience as a sustainable beekeeper. And trust me, she did not disappoint. Her knowledge of bees and what they’re capable of blew my mind. These little insects are so important, and it’s so crucial that we protect them and allow them to do what nature intended.

In a society that focuses more on treating rather than preventing when it comes to health, this conversation is so important. Our ancestors knew all about the healing powers of bees, and implemented bee products into their everyday life. We’ve somehow lost that knowledge over the years, but we can regain it. And through understanding and honoring the bees, hopefully, we can be more focused on protecting their habit and the pollinating plants that they rely on. Let’s all be advocates for the bees.
