Married to Health: How to Strengthen Your Gut Health by What You Eat | Dahlia & James Marin

Your gut is home to trillions of microorganisms, known as your microbiome. These microorganisms play a crucial role in digestion, immunity, and even your mood. When the balance of bacteria in your gut is disrupted, it can lead to various health issues, including digestive problems, immune system dysfunction, and even mental health issues. It’s time to stop relying on prescription meds and instead go back to the basics when it comes to gut health– food and nutrition.

WELCOME TO THE DARIN OLIEN SHOW

Dahlia and James Marin are married to health. And they want you to be, too.

Dahlia Marin RDN, LD and James Marin RD, EN are the co-founders of the integrative dietetics practice Married to Health, and the first 100% plant-based SIBO/IBS nutrition program. As experts in gut health, they aim to spread knowledge about the importance of incorporating plant-based foods to support a healthy gut microbiome.

Dahlia Marin, RDN, LD is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist & Licensed Dietitian. She uses her own past health struggles to get to the root of her clients’ issues. James Marin RD, EN is an Integrative Registered Dietitian who specializes in using whole plant foods as medical nutrition therapy. James has used his knowledge of food and the environment to help hundreds of his patients prevent and reverse diseases focused in the gut. While married to each other, James and Dahlia combine their knowledge and experience to help their clients embrace being married to health.

In this episode,

We really get into the science behind gut health and the myths that modern medicine perpetuates about “stomach issues.” Spoiler alert: it’s what you eat! Collectively as a society, we’ve got a lot of gut issues. Whether it’s IBS, food sensitivities, gas, bloating, or just a sensitive stomach– there’s probably more to your GI issues than you think. Sometimes doctors will brush off gut health issues as genetics, or prescribe you a pill to tame your stomach acid. But they won’t even mention nutrition or diet!

Like me, Dahlia and James are obsessed with plant-based eating, and they have tons of insightful knowledge about the link between plants and gut health. I love having licensed dieticians and nutritionists on the show for this very reason. There’s science behind plant-based eating, guys! Your gut loves plants! But don’t worry, you don’t have to be vegan to benefit from eating more plants. This episode is for anyone that wants to expand their knowledge on gut health and empower themselves to live a healthier life.
